It sounds as extraordinary as it truly is. But it is 100% real. A gift that athlete Eliud Kipchoge presented to former President Barack Obama. As a graphic design studio and sports marketing agency based in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, we were honoured to design and produce this. From concept to production. In just five days. What an exceptionally fantastic assignment!
Specifically, on 6 November 2025, Eliud Kipchoge stood in Washington, D.C., alongside Barack Obama, presenting the specially designed gift. Just a few days after participating in the New York Marathon. Indeed, it was a remarkable moment for Eliud. Finally meeting the man he has admired for so long. Moreover, for us as a design agency, it was equally extraordinary. A wonderful project. And a beautiful result!
About Eliud Kipchoge’s Gift
To commemorate this personal moment for Eliud Kipchoge, an intimate design was chosen. It symbolises the historic journey he has undertaken. From the dusty plains of Kenya to this very moment in Washington, D.C. Through pure talent and perseverance, he has quite literally run his way to these heights.
For this reason, the signed Nike Air Zoom Alphafly NEXT% 2 in which Eliud Kipchoge broke the world record in Berlin on 25 September 2022 are displayed in a running position. Beneath a stunning glass dome. Furthermore, at the base lies the deep red, dusty soil from Kaptagat, Kenya. This is where the NN Running Team training camp is located. In addition, the glass is elegantly printed. With a personal, handwritten message from Eliud himself.
Remarkably, just a week ago, it was still here in our studio; now, it shines at the Obama family home. Another exciting detail is that we had only five days to bring the concept to completion.
